The Bamboo Country - Bandhavgarh

Nestled in the Vindhyas range in Madhya Pradesh's Umaria district, Bandhavgarh National Park, declared in 1968, is now a premier tiger haven in India. Legend weaves its name from Hindu mythology, where it served as a watchtower gifted by Lord Rama to his brother Laxman—Bandhav (brother) and Garh (fort), translating to 'brothers fort.' Enveloped in rich mix of open meadows and Sal forests and bamboo thickets, Bandhavgarh boasts diverse flora. The fauna is equally impressive, with the tiger reigning as the apex predator. The park hosts one of the highest tiger densities. Carnivores like jackals, sloth bears, leopards and wild dogs share the stage with prey species like gaur, wild boars, chital, sambar and nilgai. A tapestry of nature's drama, where each rustle of leaves and every creature's gaze adds a unique chapter to the untamed narrative.
